Start with one complete assembly
For a graphite boat, carrier or other multi-part assembly, first identify the components used in one complete set. Give each item a drawing reference or clear item name.
Record quantity per set
State how many of each component are used in one assembly. This is different from the total purchase quantity and helps everyone understand the relationship between the parts.
Add the number of complete sets
If the project requires several complete assemblies, multiply only after the per-set structure is clear. This reduces the risk of ordering one component by set quantity while another is ordered by piece quantity.
List spare parts separately
Extra pins, contact points, nuts, plates or other wear/replacement items should be shown as spares rather than hidden inside the total. This makes packing, labelling and future stock control easier.
Keep the list with the drawing revision
If an assembly drawing changes, review the item list at the same time. A new revision can change the quantity or identity of one small component even when the overall product name stays the same.
